spend part of his leave at Hong Kong they would offer no

objection to him answering any questions which may be put to him.

They are, however, proposing to send an officer

from the Works Department to Singapore this summer on a visit

of inspection and if the Hong Kong Government are agreeable,

would be willing that he should visit Hong Kong. Before his

departure the officer selected could obtain full information

to the views of the Air Staff regarding possible future

Royal Air Force developments at Hong Kong and could discuss

with the Department of the Director of Civil Aviation probable

lines of development of civil air communications in the Far

East.

He would thus be in a position to give the Hong Kong

Government the latest information available in this Department

regarding the requirements of both the Royal Air Force and

Civil Aviation.

The Council would be glad to be informed as soon as

possible whether the Hong Kong Government desire the necessary

arrangements for such a visit to be made.

I am,

Sir,

Your obedient Servant,

9. Wahli.
